Real or Fake
Real or Fake is an educational browser quiz about giveaway warning signs. Read each fictional example, choose your answer, and review the explanation. The exercise does not verify an actual promotion or award a prize. Use the linked scam guidance and official sponsor rules when checking a real offer.

You get ten giveaways, one at a time, and you call each one real or fake. After every answer the game names the exact tell it turned on. The scenarios are made up, but the tells are not: a promotion that names the company running it, publishes rules with an end date and a prize value, costs nothing to enter and never asks you to pay to be paid is behaving the way a lawful one does. One that wants a fee, a card number or a code read back to it is not. Those checks transfer to any giveaway anywhere, online or on a fair table, which is the whole reason the game exists.
This game awards no prizes, no points and no entries. It is for entertainment only.
How to play
- Read the giveaway, then tap Real or Fake. There is no timer: this is about judgment, not speed.
- On a keyboard: left arrow or 1 for real, right arrow or 2 for fake, then enter for the next question.
- Ten questions a run, drawn at random from a larger bank, so no two runs read the same.
- Read the explanation even when you get it right. The tell is the part worth keeping.
- Your best score is kept on your own device and nowhere else.
A note on the scenarios
Every scenario is hypothetical. No fake in this game is attributed to any real company, because inventing a fraud and pinning it on a named business would be a lie about that business. Where a fake describes a brand being misused, it names a type of company and never a company.

The tells behind these questions are set out in full in fake giveaways and how they work, including what to do if you have already sent money. If you want the short version, the four checks are in are online giveaways legit.
Where the actual prizes are
Nothing here is a giveaway. The free-to-enter ones are listed on the $500 cash giveaways page, and each one is there because it passes the same checks this game is testing.
