A gift card giveaway asks for your email for two reasons: to contact a winner and to market to entrants afterwards. That trade is normal. The question is whether the page is clear about who is collecting it and what it will do next.

They need a way to notify a winner

Most prizes are awarded after the entry period closes, so the company running the giveaway needs a reachable address. If you win, the notice usually arrives there first and may require a reply within days.

They also want a mailing list

The commercial reason is marketing. A company offers a prize because entrants have shown interest in a category, and email is how it follows up. That is acceptable when it is disclosed and easy to unsubscribe from.

Use a separate entry address

One dedicated address keeps giveaway mail out of your main inbox and keeps prize notices searchable. Do not use a work address, and do not abandon the entry address completely.

What they do not need

They do not need a card number, banking password or payment to enter. A Social Security number belongs only at the point of claiming a prize of $600 or more for tax paperwork, not on a normal entry form.
