How Do I Find Legit Giveaways?

Legitimate giveaways are not hidden. They are published by companies who want entries, and the difficulty is filtering rather than finding.

Go to the company running it when you can

Large companies publish their live promotions on their own domains, usually under a promotions or sweepstakes path. If a page uses a big brand name but sits on an unrelated domain and names no company in its rules, treat it as unaffiliated until proven otherwise.

The four checks

Is a real company named as company? Are there official rules with an entry period, a prize value, a draw date and eligibility? Is entry free? Is there any request for payment? The last one alone eliminates most of the fraud in this category.

How to judge a directory, including this one

Official rules: The rules should state the prize, approximate retail value, entry period, eligibility, winner selection method and how odds are determined. Missing rules are the strongest reason to walk away.
Free entry: A US sweepstakes must be free to enter. No purchase necessary is a legal requirement, not a courtesy. Any fee to enter or claim a prize disqualifies the listing.
